Cleaning with an Environmental Conscience
Protein Matrix Degreaser and Why This is Different
So, we met this young man at the 2015 IKECA fall conference who was about to demonstrate his Protein Matrix degreaser to show how it attacks commercial kitchen grease. He also demonstrated how safe and easy his product is to use. Much could be said about this young man – a chemist – who engineered a replacement solution to the volumes of toxic chemicals currently available. His product offering was beyond impressive. Since then, we’ve adopted his Protein Matrix Degreaser as our primary solution to clear out stubborn accumulated Fat Oil Grease (FOG) in commercial kitchens with great success. We know his product does exactly what he claims and more. This professional cleaning degreaser is designed for water compliances. It rapidly converts FOG to sewer safe byproducts which neutralize on contact, making it safe for the environment.
Bagging the Hood with Less
Using mega rolls of plastic when ‘bagging the hood’ is the norm for KEC companies in the Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning industry! Understandably, there is a great need to wrap your kitchen and protect it from the back splash of grease laden water from your hood system during the cleaning process. Sadly, once the cleaning is completed, this plastic is rolled up and tossed away into your restaurant’s garbage bin!
It’s difficult to imagine the many kilometers of plastic waste that would end up in our communities landfill sites each year as a result.
We, at the Steam Guy, made a decision a long while ago to ditch this method, with the willingness to work a little harder for a sustainable alternative. As a family business local to Thunder Bay, we believe it is imperative to take extra measures, especially as we deliver services to communities throughout Northwestern Ontario.
It requires a bit more work but it is a really good feeling to make a bit of difference. To contribute to our local environment with each cleaning completed well. It does matter.
Plastic does not belong in our landfills nor harsh chemicals in our fresh clean bodies of water.
We strive to do our part and keep searching for ways to keep our environment clean.
